Activism
Activism is nothing new and foundational to all changes that have ever occurred. That said, it is very difficult to balance the role of the superintendency and ensuring everyone is heard while maintaining order and separating personal beliefs and professional responsibilities. Whether it has been about protesting an incident that occurred, challenging the books that are available, which pronouns will be used or demanding a change in policy these incidents can either be viewed as distractions and a nuisance to be dealt with or utilized strategically as an opportunity to engage in a new and innovative way with members of the community who may not be feeling served well. In this session, experienced superintendents and district leaders will share lessons learned through these last few years and tip, strategies, key phrases and suggested proactive approaches that you can add to your toolbox for when, not if, the time arises that people in your community are not feeling heard.
