Addressing Issues of Race and Class
With all that has occurred in the last year including a worldwide pandemic, public murder of African Americans by Law Enforcement, and a nation divided our children and communities are hurting. As elected officials and public servants we do not get to ignore or "sit this one out" because we are uncomfortable. This is what we all signed up for, but it doesn't mean we all know exactly how to go about this, especially when our views and experiences may be vastly different than those we serve. This is a session where the participants will be introduced to the 6 conditions for systemic change and explore their desire, role, capacity a4 indicators of equity: Rigor, Relevance, Relationships and Cultural Identity in concert with Maslow's Hierarchy of needs and restorative practices as a means to frame discussions that are authentic, productive and safe.
